This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We loved the atmosphere, the menu, the prices, and the employees were all welcoming and helpful. The restaurant was very clean including the bathrooms which I did visit. The food was cooked exactly the way we requested, crispy bacon is a must for me, and we all enjoyed our meals. We actually enjoyed sitting viewing the menu, then going up to order, and paying. I feel this saves you time when you are ready to go you can just go and you don't have to worry about waiting for your bill and paying. Overall, we recommend this restaurant and we will be back for sure whenever we are in the Lombard area. I did try the lilac shake and if you go give it a try!
We stopped by here after the local tree lighting in Lilacia Park. It was quite busy and had a wait but luckily we were able to wait inside at their bar, The Lilac League. Any drinks we ordered there we were able to bring to our table inside of the regular restaurant area. Highly recommend The Lilac League’s drink, Peck Homestead. So good! For food at Babcock’s we would also recommend the creamy garlic mushroom soup. We shared one bowl, but if we go again we plan to order one bowl for each of us. It was that good! We also enjoyed Ryan’s Pub Burger with fries and the Really Gouda Burger with a bed of greens. We really enjoyed how intimate it felt, even though we found ourselves sitting quite closely next to others. The building is also quite pretty from the outside too. A decent size parking lot is just a short walk away and street side parking is also available. We can’t wait to visit again!
Delicious food and great service in a beautiful historic building. It was a bitterly cold night here in the midwest and the dining room was more comfortable with my scarf on, but the food warmed us up. We will surely go back, as a couple or with a small group. Any more than 4 adults would feel crowded.
We met up with an old friend for lunch here and it was the perfect spot. Our first impression when we stepped inside was that this was a cool space. It was a beautiful day outside so we ended up eating in their outdoor dining section. They explained we could order from inside and then they would bring the food out. They had some really unique items on the menu such as Buffalo cheese curds, new England shrimp rolls, pulled pork pie, as well as gourmet burgers, schnitzel flats, and a fried chicken sandwich which I had and would definitely recommend. The prices were very reasonable (I can only vouch for lunch) and we had a great experience overall. Will definitely make this one of our go to spots in Lombard.
Classic American dishes served in a historic building in downtown Lombard. There is a small bar that looks like it was originally there serving local craft beers. Cozy table seating inside along with one booth near the front and another near the back of the restaurant. There is outdoor seating on nice days. Available parking on the street.
Before 4p it is counter service. You order at the cashier and they bring your food and drinks to your table via a number they hand you. After 4p it is full table service.
Food was great and everything seemed fresh. All the elements of my Green Goddess salad tasted fresh picked. The creamy garlic mushroom soup was delicious. Perfect for garlic lovers. The wings were also delicious and new to me. There was a subtle pickle flavor that really worked and was great with the dill sauce they drizzle over the wings.
We had a very enjoyable lunch there and would be happy to come back and try everything else on the menu!
Great place to go and have some very good food and drink. The menu has some interesting items and they are all very good. Good prices and a great wait staff. Not a big place but worth the wait for a table. Go into the hidden bar and have a drink. Look forward to going back.
The food was delicious. I had the hamburg burger from the German menu and, oh man. The bun was absolutely amazing. The burger was simple but very well pit together. I want it again. Actually, I want like three to stuff my face with. They also have fresh baked pie, which was very yummy.
The staff was nice and very respectful. Our friends toddler fell off her chair, and you could tell the manager is a dad/grandpa. He helped calm her down and was very concerned 🥰
The downside is that the dining room is small and kind of cramped. A full house would feel a bit claustrophobic, I think. On top of that, you have to go up the register to order, so maneuvering between the tables may be a bit tricky.
I have to say first that I pretty much only like medium rare burgers and this restaurant doesn’t serve them that way. So it’s a little unfair to rate them on their burgers but that’s what I ordered. The server said it would be well done, but i decided to give it a try. I got their pub burger. It was ok. My wife had the ginger carrot soup, it was not to our liking. The hummus was ok. The fries were quite good. My son likes his burgers well done, so he was happy. The food came very fast. The service was great, the owner gave us a 3 minute history lesson on the building which was very informative.
